Portland Trip, 2008

Laguna Art Museum’s Contemporary Collectors Council had a spectacular four-day art trip to Portland, Oregon for Time Based Art Festival 2008. The dedicated group left from Orange County Airport on a Thursday morning 7:00 a.m. flight and returned home on Sunday evening. This trip was led by CCC Chair Johanna Felder and included Museum Director Bolton Colburn and staff member Bibe Stockman. The council used the resources of the Jacobs Group and traveled by chartered bus to galleries, wine tastings, and gourmet restaurants.A highlight of the trip was a visit to the Bullseye Glass Company. Here, the group was able to view the process of making colored glass and were given a tour of the home and collection of founders Dan Schwoerer and Lani McGregor. Another special event was visiting the home of Ivan Gold, who provided detailed and enthusiastic anecdotes to the council as they viewed his superb contemporary glass art collection.
